Reports coming out of North Korea say that scientist their have stumbled across the mythical beast known as the unicorn in announcement made on Friday.
The Huffington Post says that archaeologist in the Asian nation claim that they found the lair of a unicorn that was once ridden by an ancient Korean king.
Korean Central News Agency say that the lair of the unicorn is located 200 meters from Yongmyong Temple in Pyongyang. Huffington Post says a rock that sits in front of the lair contains carvings that some believe date back to the period of the Koryo Kingdom (918-1392), the outlet notes.
According to the news agency the Sogyong (Pyongyang) chapter of the old book 'Koryo History' (geographical book), said: "Ulmil Pavilion is on the top of Mt. Kumsu, with Yongmyong Temple, one of Pyongyang's eight scenic spots, beneath it. The temple served as a relief palace for King Tongmyong, in which there is the lair of his unicorn."
The old book 'Sinjungdonggukyojisungnam' (Revised Handbook of Korean Geography) complied in the 16th century wrote that there is a lair west of Pubyok Pavilion in Mt. Kumsu.
The Guardian says that archaeologists from the Academy of Social Sciences at North Korea's History Institute were credited with making the discovery.
The hermit nation almost totally lives in secrecy and doesn't give much away in terms of the day to day running of the country and only allowing strict government supervised visits to foreigners.
Reports from North Korea in general are somewhat odd like the birth of their former leader Kim Jong Il described as "divine." The former leader is also said to be one who invented the hamburger.
