Say it ain't so. A new Fox News reports are popping up over the web claims that new Batman prequel series, Gotham has been canceled. However, it doesn’t take the world’s greatest detective to deduce that the report is really a fake. The report bearing the Fox News banner is actually from the pages of The Sunday Times Daily, or STD if you will, a hoax site devoted to spreading lies via social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, under the guise of a real news site.
Someone get the commissioner on the horn, because The Riddler is up to an evil scheme. Hundreds of readers have been befuddled by a new faux report claiming that Gotham has been canceled. The false report is used under the banner of a Fox News report, reading:
“Gotham", which is slated for release this Fall is cancelled by Fox after screening the first episode to an audience. Fox received negative feedback from the audience that saw the first episode screening.”
However, the true mastermind behind this story is the Sunday Times Daily. The STD is a website designed to trick people, as described on their site:
“CREATE YOUR OWN FAKE NEWS AND TRICK YOUR FRIENDS BY SHARING IT ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER OR ANY OTHER SOCIAL NETWORK.”
You can rest assured that show has not been canceled. The producers have big plans for the series, as the pilot director told reporters [via HitFix]:
“Only a very bad executive producer doesn't think about that when they're doing the pilot. I would never write a check I couldn't cash. So I'm very conscientious about budget and about building sets that won't play only once, they'll play many times. So I'm very proud to say that everything we built is in Episode 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107. And all the directors that I'm using are not only people that I trust, but are fans. They are guys who, I have my fingers crossed that they are gonna kick my ass and outdo me, because nothing gets me more fired up than somebody kicking my ass.”
