Xbox 720 Rumors Say Microsoft's New Device May Carry 1.66GHz Processor

Rumors about Microsoft's new video game console the "Xbox 720," is gathering pace with talk flying around that the latest machine will sport a 1.66GHz processor this according to trustedreviews.com.

If the reports are founded to be true the new Xbox will have a relatively low processor and some see it has a tremendous step back  from the 3.2GHz processor that the is inside Xbox 360s.

Despite this rumor Microsoft is said to be equipping the new device with an eight core processor. The new Nintendo Wii U looks like it maybe left in the dust in this department as it only boast a 1.2 GHz processor.

The information started flying around when gaming tipster Hector Martin tweeted some specifics about the latest in Microsoft's latest gaming project the Xbox 720.

"If you want more evident that MHz isn't everything, a little birdie points out that Durango (Xbox 720) is specc'ed to have a 1.6GHz CPU," Martin tweeted.

Like many bug brand electronic companies Microsoft wants to stay on top of the market by matching and surpassing its rivals. The company is rumored to want to reveal their new hardware as early as holiday season of 2013.

The Wii U launched in the November in most parts of the world and has gotten off to a fairly decent start and Sony's next console codenamed the "Orbis," is rumored to be launching in 2013 despite some Playstation officials saying that manufacturing for the machine is troublesome and earmarked the release date for 2014.
