Alvin Ailey's American Dance Theater To Tour Germany & France In January & February

Dubbed as "Alvin Ailey II," The American Dance Theater ran by Alvin Ailey is set to embark on a European tour when they visit Germany and France in from Jan. 27 to Feb. 15.

The dance troupe doesn't reveal what they will be performing while on tour but the dates and venues for the performances have been confirmed. 

Ailey's company will be in Germany for only day on Jan. 27 when they open up their tour in the city of Neuss at the Satdhalle Neuss.

The bulk of the performances have been scheduled for France and on Jan. 29 and 30 Boulogne-Billancourt will welcome the dance troupe to the Carre Bellefeuille.

Feb. 1 to 3 will see dance crew move Ruiel-Malmaison to perform at Theatre Andre Malraux and on Feb. 7 they will be in the city of Le Mans at the Palais des Congres et de la Culture.

Les Herbiers will see Ailey's team on Feb.9 at the Espace Herbauges and a few days later the organization will be in the city of Toulon on Feb. 13 at the Theatre Liberte. Feb. 15 will see the dance troupe wrap up their tour of France at Le Carre Ste Maxime in Sainte Maxime.

While this tour is going on Ailey will have another band of his dancers touring the United States and they kick off form Jan. 30 to May. 19.

Alvin Ailey started the American Dance Theater in 1958 along with a handful of young African-American modern dancers. The Ailey company has gone on to perform for an estimated 23 million people at theaters in 48 states and 71 countries on six continents as well as millions more through television broadcasts.

Ailey believes that dance is a medium that can bring joy to all people and once said. "I believe that the dance came from the people and that it should always be delivered back to the people."
