Damien Sandow continued to entertain audiences with his "gimmick of the week" meta-angle Friday night on Smackdown. This time he came out as the Boss, Bruce Springsteen in honor of America's birthday and the fact that Smackdown was held in New Jersey. He even got body slammed and toss by Rusev which helped segue into a neat "USA" feud that's brewing between Rusev/Lana and Zeb Colter/Jack "We The People" Swagger. The Independence Day heat was good for that feud, and continued Sandow's directionless character development. July 4 and wrestling go together like Wal-Mart and shoplifting, right?
Sandow's recent antics have comedic value, but he needs to get down to some wrestling (via Miami Herald):
"Emanating from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, home of the Cavaliers basketball team, Sandow wore a LeBron James Miami Heat jersey to the dismay of the crowd.
"A few weeks ago after the Heat eliminated the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, Sandow dressed in a Lance Stephenson Indiana Pacers jersey and mocked him and the hometown crowd at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, basketball home of the Pacers."
Sandow is on his way toward becoming one of those cuddly heels, the kind of guy you love to boo (via Wrestling Inc.):
"We go to the ring and out comes Damien Sandow, dressed as Paul Revere. He rips Boston and says they will always live in the shadow of New York. Adam Rose and his Rosebuds are out next. Rose says Boston is the place to party. He tells Sandow to not be a lemon, be a Rosebud."
No one is very sure why the immensely talented Damien Sandow is being forced to job the entire WWE roster in the midst of his so-called gimmick crisis. While he's turning lemons into lemonade- he's very entertaining- it's sad to see all that talent go to waste. Yet, somehow, Sandow is even managing to get over with this non-gimmick. Imagine what he could accomplish if they just let him be somebody.
