Spoiler Alert: TNT’s Rizzoli and Isles is all new tonight with the fourth episode of its fifth season. The hit crime drama is rumored to be renewed for Season 6. Meanwhile, Battlestar Galactica vet Jamie Bamber has been cast to join the series the September mid-season finale.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode, titled “Doomsday,” reads:
“The team investigates when a man is found murdered inside his doomsday fallout shelter. Jane loses investigative focus when she discovers Korsak is considering retirement and Frankie is hiding a secret.”
The new season has just really started but rumors that show will be renewed for a sixth season are already flying.
Variety is reporting that Rizzoli and Isles is on the list receive a California tax credit, implying that the series been picked up for a Season 6. The report reads in part:.
“Teen Wolf, which relocated from Georgia in 2012, will receive a credit for nearly 25% of its $46.3 million in qualified costs. Most projects receive 20% allocations, but TV series that filmed all previous episodes outside California are eligible for a 25% credit. Teen Wolf topped a pair of Horizon series -- Rizzoli & Isles with $8.9 million and Pretty Little Liars with $8.4 million -- followed by Warner Bros.’ Major Crimes with $7.9 million.”
Meanwhile, the series is about to get a face. Battlestar Galactica vet Jamie Bamber has been cast as Paul Wescourt. Westcourt will reportedly ride both side of the fence as a prosecutor who has been accused of murdering his lover.
Rizzoli and Isles airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. on TNT.
