Golden Globe Nomination For Composer John Williams For 'Lincoln'

Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," has been awarded seven Golden Globe nominations with classical music's John Williams securing one of them with the Best Original Score Speilberg's latest film.

The 70th Golden Globes is set for Jan. 13, 2013 and sees a slew of great films like "Les Miserable," and "Life of Pi," in the running for awards.

John Williams "Lincoln," score is set to do battle in the category with Dario Marianelli's "Anna Karenina," Alexandre Desplat's "Argo," Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimet and Reinhold Heil's "Cloud Atlas,"also in the running for the award is "Life of Pi," and its composer Michael Dann.

Williams worked with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on the piece as well as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus.

The veteran counted on violinist Robert Chen, trumpeter Christopher Martin, clarinetist Stephen Williamson and bassoonist David McGill to help bring to life the soundtrack. Also used for the performance was horn player Daniel Gingrich and pianist Randy Kerber along with Duane Wolfe of the Chicago Chorus.

The album was produced by Williams and edited by Ramiro Belgardt and Robert Wolff. The recording and mixing engineer was Shawn Murphy while the engineer was Brad Cobb. The contractor was Sandy De Crescent, preparer was Jo Ann Kane Music Service and mastering engineer was done by Patricia Sullivan, the project fell under the Sony Classical's label.

Williams produced a 17-track album that includes the 11-minute piece "The Peterson House and Finale." The collection is 58 and a half minutes long.

The Flushing native has been nominated for a Golden Globe more than 20 times in his illustrious career and won the award four times to date with the first one coming in 1975 for the epic thriller "Jaws."

Williams won again in 1977 with "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" and followed that with an award in 1982 for "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial." His most recent Golden Globe came in 2005 for "Memoirs of a Geisha."
