Anna Netrebko fans will be singing Dido's lament after news of her engagement to Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov, 37, was posted to her Facebook last week.
Netrebko is known for her powerful operatics, tugging on heartstrings with not only her voice but her unanimously accepted good looks.
According to her Facebook:
Anna Netrebko and Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov (age 37) are pleased to announce their engagement. The couple began dating in March of this year when they appeared together in a production of Puccini's Manon Lescaut at the Rome Opera House. A date for the wedding has not been set, and Anna and Yusif politely request that their privacy be respected.
Netrebko had a bad string of cancellations this season, but now it's clear it wasn't because of a broken heart.
Hats off to the new couple; may the wine flow like a river.
