'X Factor' Judge, L.A. Reid, Walking Away From Show

One of the mainstays on the popular TV show the "X Factor," is saying goodbye.

Well-respected music mogul, L.A. Reid, has decided not to return after two seasons on the popular singing show.

Reid told "Access Hollywood" that this will probably be his last season saying the reason for his departure is so he can go back to running his company, Epic Records.

"I have decided that I will not return to 'The X Factor' next year," L.A. told "Access Hollywood" Thursday. "I have to go back, and I have a company [Epic Records] to run that I've kind of neglected, and it saddens me a little bit--but only a little bit."

Reid has been taking a lot of flak from viewers and critics for his lack of enthusiasm while on the job. Reid admitted his lack of verve to USA Today.

"It was a nice break, it was a nice departure from what I've done for the past 20 years, but now I gotta get back to work," he said.

Reid helped bring along musical acts such as Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey, Pink, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Kanye West, Usher, Ne- Yo and Rick Ross.

Reid explained the need for him to go back to Epic Records to get back what he called getting back business.

"The most vital lesson [Reid has] learned from 22 years working at record companies? "That you keep the doors open and the lights on and a star will walk in," he told the Hollywood Reporter.. "I learned to stay in business. People are still buying music, dancing to it and dressing like it. They're using it to sell cars and CoverGirl makeup, so we sell product lines with our artists. The popularity of music is at an all-time high. How we monetize it is sometimes a moving target."
