By almost all accounts day time talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife of nearly six years Portia de Rosssi are doing everything they can to save their marriage following the Arrested Development star's reportedly recent stint in a Hollywood rehab center. According to the latest tabloid gossip news reports Ellen, who is said to love the bottle every-bit as much as her alcohol dependent soul mate, is giving up the booze for a bit in the hopes that it will keep Portia on the right track. The way things are going the multi-millionaires might be able to stave off divorce until their August 16, anniversary. This summer will mark the sixth year that their marriage has successfully survived split-free.
Rumor has it that isn't exactly easy for Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi to manage a stable life of sobriety, but you have to do what you have to do.
And word has it that Ellen has to sober up for Portia, until her wife adjust to living in a world were alcohol is so readily available.
A source who spoke with OK! Magazine for their July 28, print edition told the publication that it wouldn't be easy for Ellen to dry out, but she was willing to do anything to keep Portia healthy and happy:
"Ellen has always been a big drinker--she loves her wine.
"But she's realized that her behavior has only enabled Portia to drink as well, and she feels partially responsible for Portia's rehab stint.
"Ellen loves Portia more than anything in the world and wants to make sure that she's healthy--emotionally and physically.
According to the insider, Ellen figures why ruin Portia recovery by making it about herself:
"She's realized that drinking in front of Portia is just selfish.
"Right now their marriage is better than it has been in years, and Ellen is grateful that her wife is helpful again.
"She's ready to enjoy very minute that she has with Portia."
It can't be easy giving up something you love, but it sounds like Ellen can have booze or Portia in her house...but not both.
