‘30 Rock’ Tina Fey & Alec Baldwin Talks Jack’s Mom Elaine Stritch after Broadway Legend’s Death [TWITTER] [VIDEO]
The lights have been dimmed on Broadway, out of respect for Elaine Stritch. The Broadway legend passed away this week at the age of 89. Stritch theater and TV credits are too numerous to name, but is (more-or-less civilized) TV fans will remember her for her Emmy award winning role as Jack’s mom Colleen Donaghy in the acclaimed NBC comedy 30 Rock. Now 30 Rock star and creator, Tina Fey, is opening up about her time with Stritch. Alec Baldwin has also tweeted his love for his on-screen mother.
Tina Fey recently spoke to People about the late Elaine Stritch, stating:
"Elaine was a 'tough old bird,' but I suspect she may have been a 'tough old bird' since birth. I loved her voice, her timing, her stories and her natural elegance.
"One day she was wearing a beautiful butterfly cocktail ring, and when I admired it, she gave it to me on the spot – like an Arab sheik in black pantyhose. I feel very lucky to have worked with her as much as I did."
"A woman that I loved and admired, and a true one in a million, has gone to her rest.”
Baldwin continued to honor the legend, tweeting:
"I'm sure that even God is a bit nervous right now. I love you, Elaine."
