New 'X-Files' Episode? Gillian Anderson as Blanche DuBois in Young Vic's 'Streetcar Named Desire' International Broadcast

International audiences can see Gillian Anderson of The X-Files as Blanche DuBois in a National Theatre Live broadcast of the Young Vic / Joshua Andrews co-production of Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire on September 16, 2014.

Directed by Benedict Andrews, the production co-stars Ben Foster (Orphans on Broadway, "Six Feet Under," "Lone Survivor") as Stanley Kowalski and Vanessa Kirby (Edward II and Women Beware Women at the National Theatre) as Stella Kowalski.

National Theatre Live broadcasts performances via satellite to more than 1,100 venues in over 40 countries, live in Europe and some U.S. cities and time-delayed elsewhere. The program is celebrating its fifth year of broadcasts, which have included the original West End production of War Horse, Tom Hiddleston in Coriolanus, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller in Frankenstein directed by Danny Boyle, and Phédre starring Helen Mirren.

The live A Streetcar Named Desire broadcast from London's Young Vic Theatre will be followed by encore screenings, with dates and times varying by location.

Streetcar marks Gillian Anderson's fourth London stage appearance. Most recently she received an Olivier Award nomination for her performance as Nora in Ibsen's A Doll's House at the Donmar Warehouse. Earlier she appeared in The Sweetest Swing In Baseball at the Royal Court, after debuting on the West End in Michael Weller’s What The Night Is For in 2002.

Live performances at the Young Vic of A Streetcar Named Desire run from July 23 - September 19.
