If you tuned into last year’s Tony Awards or had the good fortune of seeing 'Fun Home' on Broadway, you know how powerful the show can be. But did you have any idea that it could help change the world? The UN has just used 'Fun Home' as a tool to promote LGBT rights in other countries. Representatives from 15 countries, including Russia, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay were treated to a special performance of the Broadway hit as part of campaign to help end discrimination across the globe.
'The Phantom of the Opera' is coming to Charleston, South Carolina. Director Darko Tresnjak ('A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder') will helming the all new Anastasia musical. The upcoming musical will be an all new beast based on but not beholden to the 1997 animated Fox film. The book for the musical will be written by Terrence McNally ('It’s Only A Play', 'Catch Me if You Can') with music by Stephen Flaherty and Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. There will be plenty to patter about with David Hyde Pierce (Spamalot), English tenor Hal Cazalet and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder’s Lauren Worsham and Bryce Pinkham all performing selections from Gilbert & Sullivan’s classic catalog.

Steve Martin is making the rounds to promote his all new Broadway musical 'Bright Star.' There is only one problem. Martin doesn’t like talking to people. Last night during Martin was scheduled to on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon but refused at first due to his lack of anecdotes and his overall disdain for small talk. 'Smash' star Krysta Rodriguez ('Spring Awakening') has landed a role on the new NBC pilot alongside John Lithgow. The show will be called The Trail follows the lives a father and (adopted) daughter, Lithgow and Rodriguez respectively. The twist is that Lithgow’s character Larry Henderson is accused of murdering his wife. It gets even better. The show is said to be a single camera comedy.
