'Chicago Symphony Center Announces 2nd Annual Chinese New Year Concert

Chicago's Symphony Center Presents is happy to announce the program details for their second annual Chinese New Year Celebration concert scheduled for Sunday, February 21, at 3 p.m. Making its Chicago debut in this go around is the internationally acclaimed, Beijing-based China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra (CBCO) led by its Music Director Pang Kapang. The program features folk orchestra performance of traditional musical selections for Chinese New Year.

The Grammys will play host to a new invention of orchestral thrash this year, as the deft concert pianist Lang Lang will team up with metal pioneers Metallica. This wouldn't be the first time the heavy quartet paired up for an orchestral hybrid--"Carol of the Bells" being an earlier collaboration with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
