'Ethio-Jazz Artist Meklit to Release New EP ‘Ethio Blue,’ an Introspective Record of ‘Healing’

Ethiopian-American singer-composer and cultural activist Meklit has announced her upcoming "Ethio Blue" EP, an introspective six-song collection that draws from her Afro-Caribbean and Ethio-Jazz roots.

    After coming together to finally make a baby, husband and wife, Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn, decided that perhaps it was time to team up for an album, so their little family could tour together for a while. Their new EP, 'Banjo Banjo,' was reportedly produced to keep the happy couple from having to tour separately with either the Flecktones or, in Washburns case, solo. While it's hardly the same as paid family leave, the 23-date tour behind the new EP will keep the Béla, Abigail and their baby boy Juno happily together through June.
  • 'Ballroom Thieves to Tour with Maine Youth Rock Orchestra

    After collaborating with Youth Maine Rock Orchestra back in 2014, The Ballroom Thieves are going on tour with the Portland based student ensemble later this spring. The bluegrass trio and 25-piece string orchestra comprised of students ages 12-18 will be teaming up for an 8-date tour of the east coast in support of the band 2015 critically acclaimed debut album, A Wolf in the Doorway. The collaboration will also include an EP that will reportedly be released early 2016.
