World renowned orchestral conductor Sir Mark Elder returns to lead the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in three unique programs in March. Elder, who is currently music director of The Hallé orchestra in Manchester, has made regular appearances with the CSO since his subscription debut in 1983.
The 'H.M.S. Indomitable' will be sailing across the Atlantic early in 2014, as Glyndebourne's much-admired production of Benjamin Britten's 'Billy Budd' heads for the US. The staging, by Michael Grandage, will play at BAM from Feb. 7 through Feb. 13.
