NEW YORK, NY - AUGUST 23: Sara Bareilles attends Cast of "Waitress" performs songs from the Original Broadway Cast Recording at Barnes & Noble, 86th & Lexington on August 23, 2016 in New York City.

Two-time Grammy-winner Sara Bareilles' four-time Tony-nominated Broadway musical, "Waitress," will soon be available in movie theaters across the US this upcoming Thursday, Dec. 7, and will be showing for five nights only.

The musical first started its inaugural run back in 2016 and was also Sara Bareilles' first Broadway performance debut. It ran alongside its fellow Broadway smash of that season, "Hamilton." Like the period musical, "Waitress" was also headlined by its composer-lyricist, which was Bareilles.

However, the American singer only appeared in three quick stints of the musical which caused great box-office success each showing. Overall, the show only ran short of 4 years up until its final pre-pandemic performance in January of 2020. It returned in a limited showing in the latter half of 2021, after theaters were slowly reopening once more post-pandemic, allowing Bareilles' performance to be captured on film.

What is Sara Bareilles Famous For?

In addition to Bareilles' two Grammy wins and nine collective Grammy nominations, the singer also snagged three Emmy nods and three Tony nominations.

After the launch of her first album "Little Love" in 2007, Bareilles rocketed toward stardom with her hit single "Love Song" from the same album, selling more than 3 million copies and earning Bareilles her first two Grammy nominations for "Song of the Year" and "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance."

As for her Broadway career, Bareilles also wrote for 2016's weirdly successful Broadway musical "SpongeBob Squarepants," with the song, entitled "Poor Pirates," earning her one of three Tony nods she had.

In terms of performing, she starred as "Mary Magdalene" in the NBC live performance of "Jesus Christ Superstar" last 2018 and scored another of the three Tony nods with her performance as "The Baker's Wife" in the 2022 revival of the "Into the Woods" Broadway musical.
