Conducting appointments are coming thick and fast for Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
The young maestro, 36, was just named principal guest conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, effective September 2015. He will replace Yannick Nézet-Séguin, whose tenure closes at the end of this season.
This news comes on the heels of the Houston Symphony's announcement of a festive week of welcoming events for Orozco-Estrada as incoming music director of that orchestra in September 2014.
2014-15 also marks the beginning of his post as chief conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Orozco-Estrada said, "To be appointed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra as its principal guest conductor makes me immensely proud...On our recent tour to Germany, we felt an immediate connection, and I look forward to working with the Orchestra regularly in the seasons ahead and also at Glyndebourne this summer in Don Giovanni."
The Colombian-born maestro will make his Royal Festival Hall debut with the London Philharmonic later this month, conducting Kodály's Dances of Galánta, Grieg's Piano Concerto and Dvorák's Symphony No. 7 on January 29.
Orozco-Estrada first worked with the London Philharmonic Orchestra just two months ago, in November 2013, conducting a major tour of Germany. His impressive energy and musicianship, and the immediate rapport that formed between him and the players, combined with such success that it led quickly to his appointment as principal guest conductor.
