Carnegie Hall Welcomes Music Royalty As Lisa Marie Presley Performs Hits Off New Album 'Storm & Grace'

Carnegie Hall will welcome music royalty when it opens its doors to Lisa Marie Presley on Saturday at Zankel Hall.

Lisa Marie is the daughter of musical legend Elvis Presley, but over the years, she's been able to become a successful artist in her own right.

Her most recent album "Storm & Grace," was hailed as "the album she was born to make" by Rolling Stone, infused with "raw, powerful country, folk, and blues." On the night the singer will perform selections from this album and more.

"Storm & Grace" was produced by legendary Blues icon T-Bone Burnett. The move to incorporate Burnett into her latest album signals a move away from her earlier albums, which were labeled as "poppy," a tag Presley wants to shed.

"I love those songs, but I think I was hiding behind a lot of sonic layers because it was scary to go out there," Presley said. "It's easier to bury yourself in the noise so you don't stand out. This album [Storm & Grace] is a lot more stripped-down and naked, both musically and lyrically."

The pressures of being the daughter of a music icon got to Lisa Marie earlier in her career. She's admitted her previous albums allowed her to work through her rebelliousness.

"I was angry at all that I was potentially up against-all the expectations-and I was puffing myself up as a protective mechanism," she said. "At the same time, I was being pushed by the team around me to be a pop star and to do all these crazy things that I really didn't want to do."

Lisa Marie  was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968 to Prisicilla and Elvis and is the heir of her father's "Graceland" estate.

Growing up she spent most of her life in Beverly Hills and Graceland.

As a musician, Lisa Marie, has three studio albums to date with the first being "To Whom It May Concern," which was released in 2003. Her second entitled "Now What," was released in 2005. Her third called "Storm & Grace," that came out in May of 2012.

The singer is a noted charity giver and has been married three times most famously to deceased pop singer Michael Jackson.
