University of Southern California’s New Glorya Kaufman School of Dance Hires Jackie Kopcsak, d. Sabela grimes and Saleemah E. Knight
The two-year-old University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance has added three new faculty members to their roster: Jackie Kopcsak, d. Sabela grimes and Saleemah E. Knight. With a nod to ballet, hip-hop and contemporary styles, USC's Kaufman School will enroll its first candidate for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance in the Fall of 2015, following the staff's addition. On a Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn’s Industry City--a 6-million square foot warehouse space on the water in Sunset Park--you can hear the echo of bass from deep disco and funk, smell the decedent scent of pastries from Colson Patisserie and feel the sweat of hundreds of dancers having the time of their lives, hidden away from all inhibitions. This, of course, happens every Sunday, by way of Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin's dance party, Mister Sunday.
