Gotham Chamber Opera, Doctorow Family Announce David Hertzberg Winner of Catherine Doctorow Prize For Music
Gotham Chamber Opera and the Jarvis & Constance Doctorow Family Foundation have announced David Hertzberg as the inaugural winner of the Catherine Doctorow Prize for Music. The newly founded Catherine Doctorow Prize for Music is an award of $15,000 to a composer for the creation of a new concert work for solo voice and chamber ensemble of between 3 to 10 acoustic instruments at 15 to 30 minutes in length. The Cliburn Amateur Piano Video Contest has opened voting for the 40 entrants in this year’s video competition to get access to the seventh Cliburn Amateur Competition in summer of 2016. Online voting will be open now through August 15 for the contest. Criteria includes amateur classical pianists age 35 who do not solely rely on their music as income byt rather tickle the ivories for fun.
