Long Island Philharmonic Shuts its Doors Indefinitely After Bank Loan Goes Belly Up
A most unfortunate loss for Long Island as news of its Philharmonic surfaced that the company, operating as the Island's longest serving arts program, has shut its doors indefinitely. In continuing its Insights series, on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. the New York Philharmonic presents a new installation at the David Rubenstein Atrium entitled Stepping Inside Mahler's Sixth. Using recordings of Mahler's Sixth which were led by music directors Mitropoulos, Bernstein, Maazel and Alan Gilbert, Professor S. Alex Ruthmann demonstrates new technology that helps aid in gaining a new perspective in the music.
