The print newspaper business might be dead, but 'The Front Page' is coming back in a big way. The classic 1928 newspaper drama written by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur play is coming back to Broadway with one very newsworthy cast. The star studded cast includes John Slattery (Mad Men), Nathan Lane ('The Producers,' 'Addams Family'), and John Goodman ('West Wing,' 'Treme'),Jefferson Mays ('A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder') and Rosemary Harris ('The Road to Mecca'). The new revival will be directed by Jack O’Brien (Hairspray,' 'The Coast of Utopia').
The cast for Fox’s, upcoming live musical event, 'Rocky Horror: Live' is now complete, if you don’t include Ralph and Betty Hapschatt. It was recently announced that “Biscuit” singer Ivy Levan will open and close out the show as The Usherette. Levan joins an already star studded cast which include 'Orange is the New Black' star Laverne Cox as Frank N Furter and original West End/Broadway/Picture Show Frank actor Tim Curry as the Narrator.
'Smash' star Krysta Rodriguez ('Spring Awakening') has landed a role on the new NBC pilot alongside John Lithgow. The show will be called The Trail follows the lives a father and (adopted) daughter, Lithgow and Rodriguez respectively. The twist is that Lithgow’s character Larry Henderson is accused of murdering his wife. It gets even better. The show is said to be a single camera comedy.
B.D. Wong is back. The Tony Award winning actor is best known for his roles on 'Law & Order: SVU' and HBO’s 'OZ. 'Now, Wong will be taking a much more sinister role in Fox’s 'Gotham.' Wong will be playing Dr. Hugo Strange in the Spring Premiere of the hit Batman prequel series.
The main cast for Fox’s The Passion is almost complete. Grammy Award winning singer, Seal, is joining the upcoming live Palm Sunday production of the musical retelling of the story of Christ. Seal will be playing Pontius Pilate.
Continuing its annual summer tour, the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration (featuring Warren Haynes!) will head over from Meyerhoff Hall to Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore on August 8 to jam down with Marin Alsop's Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
