In the current MCU, Ruffalo is second actor to play Banner, behind Edward Norton. Fans of Ruffalo’s version of the character have long been hoping for a solo 'Hulk' film. Marvel’s president of production, Kevin Feige, has previously teased a possible adaptation of the 'Planet Hulk' story. However, 'Avengers' writer/director Joss Whedon may have just smashed all hope of seeing 'Planet Hulk' to little tiny bits. Whedon recently said a faithful adaption of the comic would be “mad expensive.”
