Michael Sam Kiss Encourages Gay Former Pro Athlete NFL Brad Thorson To Come Out Inspired By Jason Collins, Brian Sims

Michael Sam is now literally a hero. The rookie defensive end for the St. Louis Rams, who is gay, has inspired a former pro athlete to come out of the closet. Brad Thorson, who attended training camp in 2011 with the Arizona Cardinals, announced on Independence Day that he was gay. He says the highly controversial kiss Michael Sam shared with his boyfriend, Vito Cammisano, encouraged him to face his sexuality openly and honestly. He also credits NBA star Jason Collins, as well as Pennsylvania Congressman Brian K. Sims for inspiring him.

    The settlement reached between the NFL and a huge list of retired players has been revised this week. The initial version, which was rejected, called for $765 Million. Now the revised version has removed the cap to ensure that all players to agree to the settlement can be paid adequately. At least 18,000 former players are involved with the suit, many of whom claim to have suffered multiple concussions. Among the high-profile plaintiffs is former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon who claims he suffers from dementia as a result of the excessive level of violence he endured as a professional athlete.
