Von Miller Returns After Knee Surgery, Drug Suspension, Better Than Ever Running A Chicken Farm
Denver linebacker Von Miller is ready to return to the Broncos defense after a knee injury and a six-game suspension for violation of the banned substances policy. Drug and injuries aside, the 25-year old Miller is doing better than ever if you ask him. He says he is running a chicken farm, with plans to expand in some form or fashion in the near future.
Miller, who underwent knee surgery in January, is just one of five starters on defense for Denver whose seasons ended to early last year. All of them will be able to report to preseason camp next month, with the exception of cornerback Chris Harris (via USA Today):
"'He's on schedule,' head coach John Fox said of Harris. 'I'm not sure I've ever seen a guy work that hard to rehab. ... It's grueling.'"
Though he's healthy enough to return, some question if he will be able to perform, given his reported problems with drugs.
One man who believes the conversation should remain on football is Von's former coach, the legendary Mike Singletary. And Singletary has nothing but praise for the young linebacker (via SB Nation):
"'First of all, (he's a) pass rusher,' Singletary responded. 'He is a playmaker. He is a guy that you put out there, and you have to account for him everywhere.'"
Perhaps one thing that may help Miller is learning to care for another living thing. Good thing he started a chicken farm (via TMZ):
"He started with 38 chickens ... and now, he's got 43 ... telling us it's not just a hobby -- it's functional because he eats the birds and the eggs.
"Miller has previously said he wants to grow the farm into 'something bigger.' Sounds like he's off to a good start."
