UFC Fighter Joe Riggs Returns to the Octagon after Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

Whatever UFC Fighter Joe Riggs has for a nickname, he needs to change it to Wolverine (as in the X-Men not the animal) because he has healed from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after just three months. He will return to the Octagon this December after eight years fighting in other promotions. Riggs was reportedly set to make his comeback earlier this month before his accident pushed the fight back.

Joe "the Wolverine" Riggs (just go with it) may have gone a little too far with his tough guy routine (via Yahoo Sports):

"UFC veteran Joe Riggs, having fought elsewhere for nearly eight years, is due to return to the Octagon on Dec. 13 in Phoenix. It's nothing short of astonishing that he will be returning that soon."

Riggs reportedly shot himself in the hand while cleaning his pistol in July, but thankfully he's healing well enough to reschedule his return match (via TMZ):

"It was bloody ... and could've been career-ending. But as you can see in the pics, everything seemed to heal nicely -- and Joe just announced that he's booked his very first UFC fight since the incident."
