CM Punk Return After Royal Rumble Quit? Rumors of Wrestlemania Match against Brock Lesnar After Stephanie McMahon Says Never Say Never

Once again rumors are flying about a possible CM Punk return after communications mastermind Stephanie McMahon hit one out of the park last week. After simply replying to a question about WWE's relationship with the man who abruptly quit after Royal Rumble this year, speculation about Punk's return at next year's Wrestlemania against Brock Lesnar is already circulating. And all McMahon said was "Never say never."

Stephanie McMahon knew what she was doing when she answered a question about CM Punk last week. When asked about the chances of WWE and Punk doing business again, Steph responded with the savviest answer possible.

Without making a single promise or declaration either way, she maintained the high road while inviting the Internet Wrestling Community to suck the marrow out of that statement and interpret it any way they please (via Fan Sided):

"Now the problem here might be some people reading entirely way too much into this and thinking he will be back soon. It shouldn't be that way, but folks will definitely take that giant leap."

Even good ol' JR publicly speculated about a dream scenario involving the Best in the World (via Christian Times):

"I wonder what the chance would be to see a CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar WM31 WWE Title bout? Stranger things have happened and that pairing would guarantee WWE a ton of new subscribers and likely ignite the PPV marketplace as well."

While it's certainly true that Punk and WWE are both less than willing to do business together right now, it's also true that anything is possible when fame and fortune are involved.

So Steph made the right call. She didn't commit herself to a stance and yet she remained firmly rooted in the present. A master stroke by WWE's Chief Brand Officer.
