Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Surprise Return to Raw in Brooklyn, Lays the Smack Down on Rusev

Fans went wild tonight at WWE's Monday Night Raw in Brooklyn, because they could smell what the Rock was cookin'. Actor and former WWE World Champion Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson made a surprise return to WWE TV tonight. After Rusev and Lana came out to challenge the Big Show, who wasn't on TV tonight, The Rock came out to deliver yet another electrifying promo and proceeded to lay the smack down on the Bulgarian Brute.

Other than the unfortunate disparaging comments made about Lana (good catch Cage Side Seats), the Rock delivered another classic promo. He had maybe a teensy bit of mic rust, but The Rock knows how to rock a crowd. He had enough groove to land a lot of his classic lines and get big heat for Rusev and Lana.

No verbal connection was made by the announce team but the Rock's appearance likely has to do with this week marking the fifteenth anniversary of Smack Down. The show does get its name, after all, from the Rock. He has this propensity for laying the smack down on people.

It's not clear yet if the Rock is just in town for the anniversary week or if he will be at Hell in a Cell. Big Show and Mark Henry were taking turns feuding with the Super Athlete Rusev, but Henry is flirting with another heel run and an unlikely beef with Bo Dallas. And Big Show is off TV for insulting Russians (kayfabe- is he legit hurt?) so the next candidate to carry the flag may as well be the Rock.

If the Rock were to put Rusev over at Hell in a Cell, it would be huge for his career. Heck, if the Rock got over, Rusev would still get a huge rub.

Whether The Rock is just visiting or if he's here for a month, you can get your fix right now with old episodes of Raw and Smack Down on the WWE Network.
