Injured Roman Reigns Rumored Heel Run after Daniel Bryan Returns? Ex-Shield Member Possibly Going to the Dark Side at Royal Rumble [RUMORS]

What ramifications have Roman Reigns' injury had on his career arc? Well, not even WWE Creative could honestly tell you that, since they often seem to wander without direction even when they have a healthy roster. But they can't be too happy that one of their top young talents has been sidelined indefinitely with emergency hernia surgery. Fortunately, opportunity could yet shine on the ex-Shield member if the rumors and speculation are true: some commentators think with the rise of Dean Ambrose as a tweener and the inevitable return of Daniel Bryan, Reign's presumed title run as a babyface won't likely have as much impact. But if the Special-Op Superman were to flirt with the dark side leading up to the Royal Rumble? Interesting notion.

It's worth noting that a July article in Bleacher Report warned against a Roman Reigns heel run leading up to his Fatal 4-Way Title Match against John Cena. And the author was right. That wouldn't have made sense at that time.

However, four months later with an injury and a (hopefully) soon-to-be reconstituted roster chock full of awesome fan favorites like Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus and the returning Daniel Bryan (not to mention Bad News Barrett), Reigns might find the landscape crowded (Bleacher Report).

Reigns' limited mic skills could also possibly work in his favor if he became a silent, brooding killer with one thing on his mind: total devastation. If Reigns became an all-purpose badass (who doesn't talk much) he could not only take on top faces like Daniel Bryan, he could also challenge the beast Brock Lesnar if he's still around.

No matter what the rest of the booking looks like in WWE, Reigns might be better fit for a heel run any way since he already has a devious arrogance that fans eat up these days. He really wouldn't even need to change much. Just talk less. Which would definitely be an improvement.
