Stephen A. Smith Lost Bet: Forced to Wear Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo Jersey after Suspended For Ray Rice Wife Women Provoke Abuse Comments

Outspoken ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith put his foot in his mouth yet again. It wasn't as serious as his disgusting comments about Ray Rice's wife and how women shouldn't provoke their abusers, which got him suspended for a whole week. It was more light-hearted. This time he lost a bet, the penalty for which was wearing a Tony Romo jersey after an underdog Dallas Cowboys team defeated the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks.

As always, Smith earned his paycheck leading up to last Sunday's game by spewing stupid absolutisms about whatever ratings-grabbing topic they happen to be discussing. For once, his comments weren't totally explosive and criminally under-informed- he just made himself look like an idiot and no one else but Smith himself got hurt (via USA Today):

"The fact of the matter is the Dallas Cowboys are going to lose this game on Sunday. They will not win. I'm guaranteeing you they will not win or I will come up in here on Monday, I will have on a Tony Romo jersey or I will have on a Dallas Cowboys baseball cap.

"Matter of fact, I'll do you one better Skip. Here's the deal. I'll be back in Bristol for my birthday. I'll wait until Tuesday and put on the Cowboy outfit on my birthday... Because that would absolutely ruin my birthday."

That certainly wasn't the case when he idiotically suggested that women should think twice before provoking their abusers. He claimed his words weren't chosen carefully before being issued a weak-ass one-week long suspension, embarrassingly just one week shy of Ray Rice's initial sentence from the NFL after he viciously beat his wife in a casino elevator (via Classicalite).

Skip Bayless, you get a pass for being petty just this once, since the moment was at Smith's expense. But you're on notice, you smug so-and-so.
