The RKO Vines are affecting the WWE in ways that even the social media-minded wrestling promotion couldn't possibly fathom. In just a week these videos have gone viral, prompting some to predict a babyface turn for Randy Orton. Orton exists in the zeitgeist as a heel, but in the current landscape of wrestling psychology he could make a badass anti-hero. Perhaps he could even ally himself with anti-Authority fan favorite Roman Reigns when he returns. What's clear is that the RKO Vines, thanks in large part to announcer Michael Cole's over the top reactions, have clearly made an impact on the veteran grappler's profile.
WWE's current business model is built entirely around the internet and intense fan interaction. But little did Vince and Triple H know that the monster they created would give back to them so benevolently.
According to Know Your Meme, The RKO Vines first appeared about a week ago, featuring "The Viper" Randy Orton putting his signature move on people in the midst of "fails" and striking his trademark pose.
However, he isn't the only star of the internet phenomenon. And believe it or not, we're not talking about Stone Cold Steve Austin (via Inquisitr):
"Give credit to where it is due - without Cole's outlandish reaction to the RKO, these RKO Vines wouldn't be around. That is one thing that Cole can take as his own. He started the craze of the 'Outta Nowhere!' RKO. Even back when Orton was a heel, the same reaction still applied. It took a form of its own, when Orton landed quite possibly the greatest RKO of all-time."

The reaction to the videos has been so strong that some fans believe that they will facilitate a planned babyface run. In just a week's time, Orton's legend has grown to Chuck Norris proportions (via Bleacher Report):
"What scientists won't tell you is that 'gravity' is just the invisible hands of Orton, always waiting at the ready to rock-shock-kaboom you into the Earth's mantle with a signature 'RKO' knockout."
