Matthew Morrison 'Finding Neverland' Casting Confirmed for Broadway Premiere

Matthew Morrison (Glee) will star as Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie in the Broadway premiere of the musical Finding Neverland.

Performances will begin at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on March 15, 2015, with opening night set for April 15, 2015.

Morrison, a Tony Award nominee whose previous Broadway credits include The Light in the Piazza, South Pacific and Hairspray, appeared in a workshop production of the musical earlier this year, but Jeremy Jordan took the role in the world premiere at American Repertory Theater this summer when Morrison's Glee schedule prevented his casting.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to see Matthew returning to his Broadway roots and back to the role he created in our workshop," said first-time theatrical lead producer Harvey Weinstein in a statement. "He is wildly talented and a true leading man."

Further casting has yet to be announced. Laura Michelle Kelly (Mary Poppins) played Sylvia in the A.R.T. production.

Diane Paulus, a Tony Award winner for Pippin last year and the director of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess and Hair, will helm Finding Neverland. The book is by Olivier Award nominee James Graham and the score by U.K. pop songwriters Gary Barlow and Grammy Award winner Elliot Kennedy. Emmy Award winner Mia Michaels (So You Think You Can Dance) will choreograph.
