Word has it that the boys of One Direction are absolutely livid that Today show co-host Matt Lauer implied that at least one of their bandmates had an issue with drug abuse. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Britain's Got Talent winners are considering boycotting the 60-year-old show forever due to the slight. Even more exciting are the reports that Natalie Morales and Tamron Hall are battling for the same new anchor slot. It's said that competition was starting to turn ugly, when NBC network exec Jamie Horowitz was fired for trying to stir things up too much when reportedly tried to fire Meredith Guthrie.
Hell hath no fury like a boy bander scorned, or so the saying seems to go.
The Today show's long time co-host, Matt Lauer, is reportedly in some very hot water with the famed members of Britain's One Direction, for implying that one of the members, Zayn Malik, skipped a recent visit to the morning show due to his issues with substance abuse.
A source that spoke to the honest folks over at Perez Hilton claimed that Harry Styles and the rest of the boys were even considering never doing the iconic talk show ever again:
"They did not know that they were going to be put on the spot like that and had they have known, they would have never done Today...It was incredibly unprofessional of Matt and management is furious!
"One Direction are threatening that they will never go on the Today show again!
"There is no concern whatsoever for Zayn. These guys are just kids, but they are all-around good guys."
According to all the rumors the cast of NBC's Today have a lot more to worry about then what One Direction thinks of them.
A production source revealed in Life & Style's December 1, issue that a new anchor slot opening up had Natalie Morales and Tamron Hall desperate to outshine one another:
"Natalie is the ultimate team player and in a lot of minds Tamron's just looking out for No. 1.
"There's a real personality clash.
"Natalie has two years left on her contract but might move n before she's squeezed out."
Although, who knows what plans have been cast aside since Matt Lauer reportedly pulled rank on NBC executive Jamie Horowitz, who was said to be considering some a major cast shakeup starting with the termination of Meredith Guthrie Willie Geist.
A NBC source told Page Six that when Matt caught wind of Horowitz' plans he called an emergency meeting with network president Deborah Turness and put his foot down:
"Savannah, Natalie and Willie Geist heard about the plan and talked to Matt, who went to Turness and told her, 'I want to keep these people,' so she fired Jamie.
"Once again, Matt Lauer calls the shots at Today."
First, Lauer gave Bob Costas conjunctivitis at the Sochi Olympics and now he is firing NBC network execs at will.
