New York Nicks Carmelo Anthony Rushed to Doctor After Back Injury During Game Against Houston Rockets

Since Carmelo Anthony has entered the NBA, he has stacked up point after point, win after win and achievement after achievement. He has been rewarded "All-NBA Team Member six times and an NBA All-Star seven times. He took the Denver Nuggets to playoffs many times and even earned gold medals in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. Stats like these are why his current team, The New York Nicks, cherish having Anthony around. Therefore, the Nicks might have reason to worry after the baller injured his back during the game against the Houston Rockets on Monday.

Before the incident, Anthony was leading the pack for his team with 14 points. Then, according to the NY Times, things took a turn for the worse:

"With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, Anthony doubled over at the far end of the court, in obvious discomfort. Coach Derek Fisher called for a timeout as Anthony shuffled to the locker room. Troubled by what the team described as back spasms. Anthony missed the remainder of the Knicks' 91-86 loss...Anthony, who finished with a team-high 14 points in 18 minutes, did not speak with the news media after the game. Instead, he left the locker room with his head bowed, surrounded by a phalanx of team personnel. A team spokesman said he was headed for a Houston-area doctor's office to get a prescription for pain medication."

Clearly, the injury must have been pretty bad if such drastic steps where taken. CBS confirmed those claims via statements from basketball correspondents on scene.

Al Lannazzone of News Daily said that, "Carmelo Anthony will not address the media tonight, another bad sign." Also, Nicks beat writer Stephen Popper reiterated, "Knicks say Carmelo won't speak to the media tonight. In a lot of pain."

With that being said, it doesn't spell good things for the Nicks' key player. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comment section below.
