Seattle Seahawks' star quarterback, Russell Wilson, and his wife, Ashton Meem, are calling it quits after only two years of marriage. There has been a lot of speculation as to why the two are parting ways. Some sources have even hinted that Wilson "plays for the other team." However, the popular opinion is that Wilson's wife was having an affair with one of Russell's ex-team members, Golden Tate. Tate then went on an epic twitter rant explaining his side of the story.
Russell and Ashton started dating back in high school. Then in college, Meem actually transferred from Georgia Tech to be with Wilson while he played quarterback for NC State.
After that, she followed him again to the University of Wisconsin. Logically, the two ended up married before Seattle drafted Wilson in 2012. Now the two have split and (sports blog) Terez Owens has a theory as to why:
"Seattle Seahawks Super bowl winning quarterback Russell Wilson's divorce has sparked many rumors on what exactly went wrong with the longtime sweethearts. We've heard em all, including theories that Russell may actually play for the other team. Now we're being told, allegedly, what the real story is. Our sources tell us Golden Tate and Wilson's wife were having an affair, and it eventually was revealed to Russell. Now Golden Tate is with the Detroit Lions, and Russell Wilson filed for divorce, and will be looking for another life partner. "
Then, as most celebrities do, Golden Tate responded to the situation on Twitter. This is a predictable reaction from those in the public eye, and the rest of us realize that there is no way of knowing if his statements are credible or not. International Business Times has his tweets:
"...The ignorant minority of people...are [spreading] rumors [and] should cut it out. It's absurd the stories that are being made up from whatever source. In fact Elise and Ashton are still incredible friends, as well as Russ and I. I strongly advise the ignorant folks blowing this situation up and spreading these rumors to shut the hell up. Go watch the nba playoffs Finally, I don't understand why it's anyone's business what happens in ones personal life. It's irrelevant to his performance on the field."
