Miami Dolphin Ricky Williams Makes Racist Ferguson Police Brutality Comments After Drug Use Scandal?

Ricky Williams' football career has been more than respectable. However, his comments on racism in America and the NFL are strongly one-sided. Last year, Williams showed support for a previous teammate, Richie Incognito, after the fellow Dolphin was accused of bigotry and racism. Now, Williams claims that Caucasian people cant relate to the injustices of the recent Ferguson scandal.

Williams' career started as promising as one could hope.

He played college ball for the University of Texas. While there, he was a two-time All American, and he even won the Heisman Trophy in 1998.

In 1999 he was drafted into the NFL, where he spent his first three seasons with the Miami Dolphins. Unfortunately, in 2006 Williams was suspended from the NFL for one year for drug use.

It seems that Williams wasn't only smoking dope while with the Dolphins. He also associated with another individual whose opinions on race are a bit obscure.

Williams and Richie Incognito, accused of homophobic actions and racist remarks, clearly formed some sort of relationship. According to Gamdayr, Williams went to bat for Incognito saying:

"I know Richie and you cannot be a racist and ask a black man for help. Not possible. Richie asked me for help..."

The site goes on to say that Williams didn't go into specifcs after those statements. In turn, one tends to question such a strange and confusing assertion.

Now Williams is in the news again for making more confusing and -- to some -- insensitive assertions. TMZ Sports reported on William's statements concerning racism, police brutality and the controversial Ferguson shooting:

"Ricky Williams says white people can't understand the pain African-Americans feel over the issues in Ferguson or NYC...because they have no clue what it's like to deal with police brutality. 'He's a white guy. White people don't relate to police brutality.'"

He goes on toreveal his own experience:

"I was arrested for failing to provide identification when I was at Texas, I told them my name was 'Ricky' when my lD said 'Errick.' This when I was the best player in college football...Put a video camera on most white people all day long, you're going to hear something that black people."

What do you think about the situation? Is Williams being racist? Is he overstepping his bounds? Let us know in the comment section below.
