The Tennessee Titans haven't performed up to standards in years. The reason could be that players and even cheerleaders associated with the team have recently been accused and indicted of sexual assault. A woman recently filed a police report against Sammie Lee Hill, Titan's nose guard, for allegedly assaulting her in a hotel room. Also, last year Elizabeth Garner, a Titans' cheerleader, was indicted of sexual assault with a minor.
The Titans have had consistently mediocre seasons since 2008, when they lost the division playoffs to the Baltimore Ravens. Other than that, their record has been mediocre at best. Not to mention, they haven't competed in a Super Bowl since they lost to the Rams in 1999.
The only kind of headline the 2-11 Titans have been able to make this season is yet another case of sexual assault. This time around, the accused is 28-year-old Sammie Hill.
Sammie has only been in the league since 2009 when the Detroit Lions drafted him. Now, unfortunately for Tennessee's P.R. team, he plays for the Titans. According to TMZ Sports, Hill was allegedly very rough:
"Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Sammie Lee Hill has been named in a police report by a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by the NFL player last week...[she] went to police in Houston claiming Hill -- currently in the middle of a 3-year $11.4 million contract -- sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in Atlanta ...Officials with APD confirm the woman named 28-year-old Hill as the suspect...the woman claims to have marks and bruises on her neck which she claims she suffered during the alleged sexual assault."
This is isn't the only case of sexual assault the Titans have had to deal with in recent years. According to the Huffington Post, last year a Tennessee cheerleader, Elizabeth Garner, was accused of throwing herself onto a boy 12 years of age:
"Elizabeth Leigh Garner, 42, of Nashville was indicted last week on aggravated sexual battery and solicitation of a minor for child rape...the boy told police he was at his home when he went upstairs to use the bathroom. He said Garner...followed him upstairs. Garner then touched him 'on the outside of his pants' and made 'an attempt to take his shorts off' while offering to 'perform oral sex on him.'"
