After Brock Lesnar Blamed for WWE Low Ratings, Live Episode of Smack Down Boosts Views

The WWE has always been one of the most highly watched organizations on television, however, there has been a recent drop in ratings. Some reports suggest the lack of Brock Lesnar is to blame for the low numbers. Yet, this week's live episode of SmackDown, impressively, pulled over 2 million views. So, are things as bad as people thought?

The WWE has used several marketing strategies this year to keep their momentum at a normal pace. For example, the company announced that they would be revealing a 24/7 streaming service.

Initially this sent shockwaves through the WWE community, but in the end it hasn't had the lasting results that executives surely had in mind.

Nothing seems to draw a crowd anymore, and some think that Brock Lesnar could be to blame. According to Inquisitr, Vince McMahon needs to get things moving:

"In the WWE, Brock Lesnar is said to be good for business, if you go by the theory proposed by Vince McMahon, but if that is the case, then why is he not doing regular matches? A black hole must have formed somewhere in the WWE Universe, since something is sucking away viewers from Monday Night RAW, which has sports writers speculating about why the ratings continue their downward trend."

The rumors also state that Vince McMahon is holding back Brock showing up due to his high per-show cost...

There is a lot of talk that the recent dip in ratings could even mean the death of the WWE. However, According to Cage Side Seats, USA featured a live episode of SmackDown that drew a refreshing amount of people:

"As part of 'WWE Week,' the USA network aired a special live episode of SmackDown...It was a solid show, all told, and it drew a solid 2.02 million viewers. Realistically, drawing over two million viewers for a Tuesday special that was promoted but never heavily enough to make a big difference in the number it draws on its usual night should be considered a victory."

So, is the WWE in any danger at this time? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
