WWE Heavyweight and UFC Champion Brock Lesar too Expensive to Fight? Merchandise FEUD Similar to CM Punk's

World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar may be letting fans down yet again. According to recent reports, Lesnar is too expensive for the WWE to keep on payroll, and merchandisers have been told to put a hold on Lesnar's merchandise. This is a similar situation to when CM Punk left the organization earlier in the year.

At this point, Lesnar leaving feels like an age-old story.

Right after he wrestled Goldberg at WrestleMania XX, he left the WWE to pursue a career in the NFL. While there, he played for the Minnesota Vikings, but didn't even make it past the pre-season.

Then, he re-entered the sport of wrestling as a member of New Japan Pro Wrestling. After that he skipped from wrestling organization to wrestling organization until he signed with the UFC in 2007.

Lesnar made it all the way to UFC Heavyweight Champion, but, to nobody's surprise, he retired from MMA in 2011. The year after that, Lesnar predictably returned to the WWE.

So, in the end, it seems like Lesnar leaving organizations is part of his shtick.

But, who's to say? According to Wrestling Zone, his departure is not set in stone:

"Brock Lesnar may be on his way out of WWE, and merchandisers were told to hold off on production of Lesnar's merchandise, and if any was in the works, to produce it for Sheamus instead. This order was not given to WWE, but actually to outside merchandising companies who work with WWE on new items. [Some] say the merchandise issue is not a clear indication Lesnar is leaving after WWE Wrestlemania 31, but they are playing it safe just in case he does."

This strategy of putting a hold on a wrestler's gear has been seen before. According to Wrestling Inc., CM Punk experienced a similar feud over merchandise:

"...Attorneys of the former wrestler sent WWE a 22-page letter regarding non-payment of royalties he feels he's owed. In an apparent response to the letter, WWE slashed prices on many Punk items before removing them altogether. This included a huge price drop in the "Best In the World" DVD and Blu-ray, which was reduced to $2.99.
