The fate of the WWE seems to be up in the air at this time. There has been a steady decrease in ratings, and many popular wrestlers, like CM Punk, have left the company. Now, reports are suggesting that Punk's wife, WWE Diva AJ Lee, might also be leaving. Is she facing some of the same obstacles Punk did toward the end of his career?
April Brooks, a.k.a. AJ Lee, is now 27 years old and reigns out of Unions City, New Jersey. In 2009, Lee joined one of the WWE's developmental subsidiaries, Florida Championship Wrestling.
Since then, she has had an extremely successful wrestling career, and was even named 2013's Diva of the Year.
Even with a respectable career, Lee is still most well known for being married to ex-WWE superstar CM Punk. She and Punk didn't get together until after A.J. left Punk's previous rival Danial Bryan. Now, the two are married, however, Punk is no longer with the WWE.
And now, according to Inquisitr, it looks like Lee might be leaving too:
"Will we see the WWE Diva, AJ Lee, leaving like her husband, CM Punk, soon? A cryptic comment made during the recent match between Nikki Bella and Alicia Fox has everyone guessing what is going through her head. During the WWE Divas match, AJ Lee joined the announce team only to make an interesting comment that could be interpreted as a hint that she may be leaving some time in the near future....This is what she said, 'I feel like you guys aren't asking me enough questions while I'm out here....You're going to miss me when I'm gone.'"
This is quite a bold statement, and a lot can be drawn from it. Also, it raises a lot of questions.
Like, is she facing some of the same obstascles as her husband? Fansided reminds us of what Punk said it was like towards the end:
"Punk [said] that he is very happy now, and [during] his last days in WWE he was miserable. He calls the creative environment inside WWE as 'toxic.' Punk claims Vince McMahon stifled him from being a part of a number of things, such as having sponsors on his ring gear..."
