Michael Phelps is easily one of the most well known Olympians of this generation. That also means all the drama in his personal life gets blasted all over the internet, and this year has been a doozy! Earlier in the year, Phelps was arrested for DUI, and checked himself into rehab. New reports are saying he just plead guilty in court and got probation. Also this year, Michael was allegedly involved in a relationship with a transsexual.
Phelps is now 29-years-old and holds the records for most Olympic Gold medals ever. Right now, he is up to 18, which is twice as many as any other athlete, and 11 of those are from individual male events. Also, his records span across many different events and overall Olympic games.
Even with such a grand reputation, he has been revealed to have a side that is much less dedicated to success.
In 2004, Phelps was arrested for his first D.U.I. at the age of 19. Then, in 2009, he was infamously photographed smoking weed out of a huge waterbong. Those instances have truly damaged his reputation.
However, it wouldn't be so bad if these kinds of things didn't keep happening. According to TMZ Sports, Phelps just went to court for his second D.U.I:
"Michael Phelps showed up to a Baltimore court Friday morning where he pled guilty to driving under the influence. Phelps was given a one-year suspended sentence and 18 months probation ... meaning if he screws up in the next 18 months, he goes behind bars for a year. Phelps must abstain from booze, and can't abusively use drugs. He'll have to submit to drug and alcohol testing ...at the discretion of his probation officer ... and attend self-help group meetings."
As previously stated, it seems that fans would be able to get over something like D.U.I. or even smoking weed out of a HUGE waterbong, but the list never seems to end. According to Daily Mail, Michael was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with a transsexual:
"Michael Phelps' self-proclaimed girlfriend Taylor Lianne Chandler has just made a shocking admission...In a post on her Facebook, Chandler is revealing she was actually born a boy, and named David Roy Fitch at birth....As a teenager however Chandler went on testosterone blockers and had her name changed and then, in her early twenties, underwent corrective surgery to get rid of her male genitalia."
