Since his time in the NFL, Russell Wilson has elevated to a rarely achieved level of celebrity athlete. His athletic ability seems to get better with every passing day, and people are noticing. However, people are also noticing that Wilson has a scandalous side. In recent news, the Golden Tate/Russell Wilson controversy stacked another line of drama to the already teetering tower of strife. This time, Tate was very vocal with his negative opinion of Russell's alleged actions. One article outlined the intense dialog between the two.
Before his time as a professional, Wilson played college ball for the University of Wisconsin. During that time, he led his team to the 2012 Rose Bowl and a Big Ten title. It was no secret that he was destined to play in the NFL.
Russell earned himself a 75th overall pick with the Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft. Looking back, it was surprising that he was picked so late. Seattle obviously didn't know what they had in their pocket.
Now, as you know, Russell is undeniably in the top echelon of professional quarterbacks.
However, there is a darker side to the super star. Based on this report by the NY Post, Wilson may never rise above the controversy surrounding his divorce:
"Don't expect Golden Tate and Russell Wilson to reminisce about Seattle's glory days anytime soon. The Lions star wideout, who is rumored to have an affair with the Super Bowl-losing QB...who is rumored to have an affair with his now ex-wife Ashton Meem, isn't thrilled that his former teammate has yet to jump to his defense. The former Mrs. Russell Wilson, Ashton Meem, was rumored to have been intimate with Golden Tate."
It's sad that such a big stain taints Russell's story. According to TMZ Sports, Golden Tate doesn't care about any of that:
"Golden Tate [said] 'It's sad that he's letting it go on.' The ex-Seattle Seahawks WR (who now plays for the Lions) was out in Bev Hills Wednesday night with some friends...and made it clear the wife-bangin' rumors are 'a bunch of bulls**t.' But it's obvious Tate holds Wilson partly responsible for letting the rumors spiral out of control in the first place. Of course, after the rumors began last year, the Seahawks got rid of Tate...and Wilson and his wife announced they were breaking up."
