EXO Breakup: Lay Criticized for Wanting Time Off, K-Pop Band Members Support Him

Lay, he of the Chinese arm of K-Pop group EXO, needed a break from the group's promotional duties in China. The fans have expressed their frustration with Lay for abandoning the band in a time of need. The band, however, is a lot more understanding and supportive of their collaborator.

At a meet and greet, Lay talked about the support he received from other EXO band members. Specifically, Lay shared a heartwarming story that happened between Baekhyun, fellow band member, and him.

"Actually, I have a good relationship with all of them," he began. "Recently, there was a really touching incident that happened with Baekhyun. He just had his birthday, and I wanted to say happy birthday to him right at midnight. At that time, I had just traveled back from China to Korea, and I was still used to the time in China. So I was still waiting for midnight when the room was already filled with 'Happy Birthdays' and I was thinking, 'Oh, I'm late?' So I told Baekhyun, 'Sorry brother, happy birthday,' and he responded, 'Hyung, it's been tiring for you recently right? It's okay, Fighting! This is what Hyung chose to do, so Hyung has all of our support," Lay told the crowd.

Lay came under criticism by Korean fans on the website Pann for continuing his solo activities in China. They don't feel he was giving his all to the band. However, despite suffering an injury during the filming of a video, Lay kept up his appearance schedule, appearing at the aforementioned meet and greet. His injury was aggravated to the point where Lay needed to receive treatment. Despite that, he did not want to disappoint his fans and decided to tough it out.

Sounds like dedication to me.
