Miami City Ballet Appoints 'Strictly Ballet' Stars to Corps' 30th Season

As the Miami City Ballet announced is latest additions to the corps de ballet, among their latest appointees were Ella Titus and Mayumi Enokibara. The girls are recent graduates of the Miami City Ballet School — and stars of the Teen Vogue web series Strictly Ballet.

The web series chronicles the journey of the preteens and high school students who compete for limited spots in the ballet's ranks. Titus is a local and hails from Clearwater while Enokibara's appointment comes as an international phenomenon. The latter is from Rio de Janeiro.

Another name to mention is Simone Messmer, who will join the troupe as a principal dancer. For this star, her career began at the iconic American Ballet Theater before moving to the San Francisco Ballet where she was the star of numerous principal roles.

In addition, MCB also announced that Jennifer Lauren would be promoted to principal soloist, as well as Emily Bromberg and Jovani Furlan to soloist.

The company will open for it's 30th season on Oct. 23. The brand new season will include George Balanchine's Swan Lake, Twyla Tharp's In the Upper Room and a new take on Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Also, the season will include another ballet by Justin Peck. If you aren't in the know, last season Peck choreographed Heatscape, an original ballet inspired by the Wynwood Walls, which earned the MCB much-deserved national acclaim.

For the American Ballet Theater, which produced Messmer and just recently named Misty Copeland as one of its principal dancers, the company celebrated its 70th anniversary with a revival performance of Othello at The Metropolitan Opera.

Congratulations to the new appointees as they make their way into a new season full of exciting new performances and interpretations.

For now, here is something from the MCB below.
