Toronto Blue Jays to Win the World Series, Gambling Website Predicts

The Toronto Blue Jays are on a roll and have a great chance of bringing something to Toronto that hasn't been there since 1993 -- playoff baseball. The Blue Jays are casting aside opponents right and left and now sit atop the American East, having just supplanted the New York Yankees. According to Sports Net Canada, who cited the European gambling website Bodog, the Blue Jays currently stand as a 4 to 1 favorite to win the World Series (just marginally better than the last year's American League pennant winner Kansas City Royals who check in at 5 to 1).

However, before you start learning how to spell Edwin Encarnacion, Sports Net Canada cautions you. "This isn't entirely new territory for the Blue Jays. The team entered the 2013 season with the best World Series betting odds after acquiring Mark Buehrle, Jose Reyes and others in an off-season blockbuster with the Miami Marlins. But, we all know how that season unfolded."

The trade deadline deals for shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and David Price, combined with the offseason trade for 3rd baseman Josh Donaldson, have injected life into the perennially .500 team and brought them screaming out of mediocrity. Rightfielder Jose Bautista, an all star outfielder who, along with DH/1st baseman Edwin Encarnacion, are arguably the best 3/4 combo in baseball, took a more lighthearted approach to recent acquisition David Price's arrival. The undisputed leader of the Blue Jays sent out a tweet, "All these people are excited about @DAVIDprice14 and im just here like when does Astro get here???"

Even Toronto general manager, Alex Anthopoulos, is cautious. To CBSSports, he said "We're playing well. But we still have a long way to go. We've gotten hot and can get cold just as fast. Everything's close. We made up seven to eight games in two weeks. Someone else can do the same thing. We like the team. It's nice we're playing well. But the Yankees have a good team, the Orioles have a good team and the Rays do, too. I just think there's too much time."
