Daniel Craig on James Bond Role: 'I'd Rather Slash My Wrists'

Daniel Craig made himself famous for his portrayal of James Bond, but he said he would rather 'slash my wrists' than play the role again.

He has been being asked about his interest in getting back into the role and playing bond once again. Craig made it very clear that he has no interest in doing that right now and that he wants to move on. Perhaps he went a bit too far with the answer that he gave, but it shows how strongly he feels against playing the role again following Spectre, which will go into theaters on November 6th.

"I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists," Craig said. "I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on."

Following that answer, the media continue to pry and see just how committed he was to never playing the role again. They asked him next whether or not he would be open to playing the role in the future after he got the break that he is obviously needing. His answer was a bit more vague and he did leave the door open for a future Bond appearance.

"I haven't given it any thought. For at least a year or two, I just don't want to think about it. I don't know what the next step is. I've no idea. Not because I'm trying to be cagey. Who the f--k knows? At the moment, we've done it."

Obviously his anger about the issue is a bit surprising considering the money he made and the size of the role that he played. Perhaps the movie was just incredibly stressful. Either way, he obviously doesn't want to be doing anything in his Bond character anytime soon.

Craig continued talking about his thoughts about another actor potentially replacing him as Bond and didn't seem to care all that much about the possibility.

"Look, I don't give a f--k. Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we've left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that's all."

That brings up the intriguing thought of who could be the next James Bond if Craig really is done with the role and won't come back. There are a few different options that would make sense, but none that seem to fit quite as well as Craig did.

Despite all of the anger that he showed in previous comments, he ended the interview calmly saying that it is worth the stress being Bond.

"Don't be s--t! Go for it. Embrace it. Some clichéd line like that. But no, just make sure you're great. You've got to push yourself as far as you can."

It's worth it," he says. "It's James Bond."

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Craig. Perhaps he can be convinced to jump back into the Bond role after a break, but there is a good chance that another actor will have to step up and throw himself into character to make the next Bond move, assuming there is one.
