Spoiler Alert: Tonight, the hit CW series, The Vampire Diaries returns for another all new episode. Nina Dobrev might be gone, but her character Elena is not forgotten. Recently, Paul Wesley opened up about the role Elena will play in Season 7 role, despite Nina’s big exit. The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of The Vampire Diaries titled, “Never Let Me Go,” reads:
“Damon makes an impulsive decision that threatens to unravel a carefully negotiated deal between Stefan and Lily, so Damon tries to make amends with his mother before things spiral further out of control. Meanwhile, Alaric obtains a mysterious artifact; Matt makes a risky life or death decision; and Caroline uncovers a shocking detail about Stefan's past.”

Last season, TVD fans said goodbye to Nina Dobrev’s Elena. However, recently, Paul Wesley opened up to TV Insider about the role Elena will play this season, saying:
“Elena’s still a very big part of the story. Her body’s in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up. We all had imagined this complete reboot where Elena was gone, but she’s talked about so much! [Laughs]”
