Toronto Blue Jays Will Aggressively Pursue Re-Signing SP David Price in 2015 MLB Free Agency

The Toronto Blue Jays saw their season end in depressing fashion, but are already focusing on their offseason. First up, the Blue Jays will aggressively pursue re-signing starting pitcher David Price in 2015 MLB free agency.

Price was acquired midseason from the Detroit Tigers and put together an impressive regular season. He was unable to come through for his team in the postseason, but that doesn't make Price any less of a pitcher. There is no debate that he is still one of the top starters in all of Major League Baseball.

Heading into the offseason, there are going to be quite a few teams that will throw a lot of money at him. According to reports, the Blue Jays are very interested in retaining Price and are planning to aggressively pursue re-signing him when free agency opens up this coming offseason.

Another team that is expected to have a lot of interest in Price is the Chicago Cubs. Theo Epstein is going to be searching for another ace caliber pitcher and Price has had quite a history with manager Joe Maddon. Chicago has plenty of money to spend this offseason and could be the Blue Jays' top competition to sign Price.

Throughout the 2015 regular season, Price ended up compiling an 18-5 record between the Tigers and Blue Jays to go along with a 2.45 ERA and 4.79 K/BB ratio. He was a big reason that Toronto was able to power into the AL East division title and into the postseason. They likely would have made it without him, although that isn't a for sure statement.

At 30 years old, Price still has quite a bit of superstar baseball left to play. Toronto would be wise to bring him back and continue the success that they had this year moving forward.

Price wasn't a cheap addition for the Blue Jays originally and not bringing him back would be disappointing.

Toronto definitely has a good chance to re-sign Price and move forward with him at the top of their rotation. He is a perfect fit for them looking into the future with Marcus Stroman coming along nicely as well. Both of those pitchers are key for the Blue Jays to get back into the postseason next year and be an even bigger threat to make it into the World Series.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors come out about Price over the next few weeks and for his name to be one of the hottest when free agency opens up.
