2015 Breeders' Cup Update: Horse Race Winner Results, Highlights, Award Money [RECAP]

The 2015 Breeders' Cup has come to a close, and we've got an updated recap of all the best highlights from this year's horse race. American Pharoah was the clear winner, and the lucky horsey took home some serious prize money as a result.

American Pharoah has done it again. After winning the Triple Crown, the 3-year-old colt took home the Breeders' Cup Classic trophy.

Of course, that isn't the only thing that Ahmed Zayat, American's owner, walked away with. He also received a sizeable fortune...thanks to his overachieving stallion.

According to ESPN, the $5 million in prize money offered from the Breeders Cup is just a fraction of how much Pharoah has earned for Ahmed:

"American Pharoah won nine of his 11 career starts, including the first sweep of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont in 37 years this spring. He earned a total of $8,650,300 for Ahmed Zayat, the Egyptian-born owner who chose to keep his popular horse in training so fans could see him run...'We wanted him to go out as a winner,' Zayat said. 'He is a winner.'"

No one can deny that. After all, Pharoah's highlight-filled performance on Saturday more than assured his legacy in the horsey history books.

American looked like a winner from the very start, completing a quarter-mile in just under 24 seconds. He kept this pace up, passing the half-mile mark in 47.5 seconds.

Although no horse seemed to come close to Pharoah, Bleacher Report tells readers that the win was no less exciting:

"Even if you knew it was coming, it's hard not to get chills from watching Pharoah just trounce a loaded Classic field. All told, Pharoah ran through the 1 1/4 mile race in just a tick over two minutes -- 2:00.07 to be exact -- and set a new track record for winning margin after defeating his nearest competitor, Effinex, by a whopping 6 1/2 lengths."

What do you think of the latest results? Were you expecting American Pharoah to be named the winner of the 2015 Breeders' Cup? What was your favorite highlight?
